Acting Chief Information Officer
David Tillman is the NCUA’s Acting Chief Information Officer. In this role, he is responsible for leading the IT workforce, establishing the organization’s IT strategy and roadmap, and safeguarding, operating, and maintaining its technology resources.
Prior to being named CIO, Mr. Tillman served as the NCUA’s Senior Agency Information Security Risk Officer responsible for both cybersecurity compliance and operations, and enterprise IT platform and infrastructure services delivery. Prior to coming to the NCUA, he served as the Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer’s Director of Cybersecurity, acting as the senior advisor to the CIO on a variety of matters relating to cybersecurity risk management, resources, and technology. Mr. Tillman previously served as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at the Department of Health and Human Services.
Prior to joining the federal government, Mr. Tillman had a career leading large, high-profile teams in roles including Director for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Reporting Service Desk; Technical Director of Joint Strike Fighter technical support; and Program Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation mobile device product team. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1998, after a 20-year career.
Mr. Tillman holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in in information technology management from the University of Phoenix.
